Data Sync

For the iPod touch, are the application data (saving files, information, etc) stored on your computer when you sync applications?

I thinking of returning my iPod touch to a problem, but I'm not sure when a get a replacement and sync my applications from my computer files and store data will be back.

All files and keep application data stored on the iPod. If you were to remove the applications from your iPod to lose the save files.
