What would you do for safety in a boat, get a two-way radio or GPS?

Or should I get a two-way radio with GPS? - ... Seen that ... and its almost $ 300 $ 400 ... Either one should be water resistant ... A simple two-way radio hand will be enough?

A marine radio must be in the top of your list. A GPS could be useful if you ever very far from its home port, or land, or if your bank or territory has always other obstacles. I would be leery of having an all-in-one, however. A dead battery would leave you both units. You can get a basic GPS, handheld about $ 150 to 200, loaded with maps. A handheld marine radio is in the same neighborhood. It is probably spent at least several thousand dollars for the boat. These two elements would perhaps 2-5% of the cost of the boat. That's pretty cheap insurance. If you can not afford them, really can not afford the boat, in my humble opinion.
